Garbage and Recycling Schedule During COVID-19 Pandemic
Waste Connections has developed contingency plans based off worst case scenarios caused by COVID 19. Every operational employee at the Memphis District has been issued a COVID-19 Emergency Declaration card by FEMA. Waste Connections will move employees from other lines of business to insure service for the residents of the City of Hernando. Waste Connections is working closely with many health organization throughout United States and Canada. An area of concern for waste service providers is touching loose garbage or bagged garbage outside the cart. All bagged trash must be in the cart for the health and safety of the waste service employees. Many of the recycling plants that Waste Connections use to drop off the recycling products have shut down due to the virus.
- Effective Monday April 6, 2020 Waste Connections will only service trash inside the cart.
- Bags that are outside of the cart will not be service.
- Waste Connections will re-evaluate with the city every two weeks.
- Waste Connections has no plans currently to stop recycling service.
The only way the Waste Connections contingency plan works if their employees stay safe and healthily during this pandemic. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
