Plans for our Current and Upcoming Programs

Soccer

We here at the Hernando the Parks and Recreation Department have been working on completing soccer schedules for all age groups. The revised schedules would potentially begin April 2, 2020 assuming the suspension is lifted and play through April 18th to ensure there will not be any crossover on games within the sports. I have been in contact with MSA and at this time no changes have been made to the original suspension of play. I was informed earlier today that Mississippi Soccer Association (MSA) Executive Council will be holding a conference call this Sunday. I expect to receive an update from them sometime early next week. I will update everyone as I receive information.

Baseball, Softball, and T-ball

Baseball/Softball/T-ball is scheduled to begin the week of April 20,2020. As of now that continues to be our plan. This is subject to change depending on future information received pertaining to Covid-19. As we move forward with the plan teams will be drafted by Hernando Parks and Recreation staff and the rosters will be sent out to all coaches by the end of next week. We will continue to keep you updated as we receive more information.

Tennis Lessons

Tennis Lessons were scheduled to begin next week unfortunately we will need to postpone all lessons at this time. Lessons will begin the week of March 30,2020. This date is subject to change pending any updated information received about Covid-19. We will continue to keep you informed as we receive information.

Exercise Classes

All exercise classes have been canceled for the month of March and April.  We plan to resume with Zumba and Line Dancing at the Gale Center in the month of May.  All current participants will receive an email informing them of open registration.  We will update you as more information becomes available.

Young at Heart (Senior Citizen Activities)

All of our senior activities are suspended until further notice.  It is very important to us that we take every precaution in protecting our senior population.  We will update you as we receive more information.

We appreciate your patience during this unusual time.

Thank you,

Michael Carson – Sports Director

Chris Couch – Sports Director
