Spring Softball League ONLY
Hernando Parks and Recreation is affiliated with Dizzy Dean Baseball and offers a recreational 8 weeks softball league (ages 5-18). HPR Softball League will run from March to May. Registration begins in January. A copy of the player’s birth certificate and a form of payment must accompany the registration form. Each player will receive a jersey as part of their registration.
OUR LEAGUE’S FOCUS
HPR’s League’s focus and mission is to provide a program that will provide a program that will be fun, safe and foster growth in the skill of softball. The program is designed to teach kids the fundamentals of baseball/softball in a less competitive setting. Dizzy Dean Baseball, Inc. is a non-profit youth Baseball/Softball organization whose mission is to provide a recreation outlet for as many youth as possible regardless of sex, religion, race or color. The main purpose of Dizzy Dean Inc. is to provide youth ages five (5) through eighteen (18) years of age, a fair and equal community based softball program. Dizzy Dean’s goal, along with HPR, is to instill in our youth the ideas of good sportsmanship, honesty, discipline and a sense of teamwork so that they may become strong, healthy, well-adjusted members of their community. T-Ball is offered for children ages three (3) to four (4).
General League Information:

- Before Uniforms are Ordered- 75%
- Before the First Game- 50%
- After the First Game- No Refund
All teams will practice during the week-day and times will be determined by the volunteer coach
Youth must be of age for that age division on or before Jan. 1st of current year for softball.
HPR will provide a jersey to each registered participant. (Please note: Parents are responsible for providing/purchasing any additional uniform requirements- pants, socks, belt, and shoes)
Practices will begin mid-March and will be held one night a week for each team
Fall Softball (Development League)
Age as of 01/10/20
Fall softball program is to provide children of Hernando and surrounding communities an opportunity to play baseball in the fall and develop as a player in preparation for the following Spring season. The fall season is a separate season from the previous Spring and players will not carry over from season to season. Ages 5-18.
IMPORTANT- PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS ISSUED AFTER PLAYER IS DRAFTED TO A TEAM.
No standings or tournament. League is for development purposes only
